Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo has confirmed that the club are not sure if forward Kylian Mbappe will sign a new contract deal, MySportDab reports.
Mbappe’s future at the Parc des Princes has been up in the air for the last few months, despite the striker only signing for PSG for two years ago.
The France international is understood to be a target for Real Madrid, though the Spanish giants have repeatedly denied any interest in signing him.
PSG are keen to retain Mbappe’s services but Leonardo has refused to rule out the possibility of him leaving the Ligue 1 side this summer.
“It is not a question to know whether or not that is a priority,” he told Le Parisien.
“Mbappe is here and he is very important to the club, there’s no question about it.
“When training resumed on Monday, he arrived with a great attitude – a big smile on his face.
“As always. He’s very charismatic, the fans love him. It’s important to have a player like him in the team – one who’s young and always happy and smiling.”
When asked if Mbappe should sign a contract extension, Leonardo added: “That is not a question. I never make promises. For two reasons: the first is that I am not the person who does everything at this club; the second, I do not want to pluck promises out of thin air, without being certain I can keep to them.
“The only thing that interests me is stuff that is concrete, that is today.”
Mbappe joined PSG from Monaco in the summer of 2017 for a fee of £165.7million and has scored 60 goals in 87 appearances for Thomas Tuchel’s side.
