Senegal have reached the semifinals of the 2019 African Cup Of Nations after a 1-0 win against Benin today, MySportDab reports.
After qualifying second in Group C, an early goal from Sadio Mane booked Senegal’s place in the quarter-finals as they defeated Uganda 1-0 in the first knockout round.
Benin, meanwhile, upset Morocco with a 4-1 victory on penalties on July 5 after drawing 1-1 through normal time and are into their first ever AFCON quarter-final.
They drew all of their three group-stage games to qualify as one of the best third-placed teams.
However, Everton midfielder Gueye started and finished a move which saw Liverpool’s Sadio Mane tee up his team-mate to score in Cairo.
The Video Assistant Referee system has been introduced from the quarter-final stage and Mane had two goals disallowed for offside after VAR checks.
Benin’s Olivier Verdon was sent off near the end for a foul on Gueye.
